Fantastic news!  I freaking love her and she has always been involved in some of my favorite anime series ever... Even more hyped for this now

Am I totally misremembering or was there not a thing with Maaya Sakamoto that she wouldn't contribute themes to anime's where she was actually in it?
Or maybe that was just Character Songs.

I think you are talking about the Monogatari Series. She voices Shinobu (Kiss-Shot) in the series and despite being a prolific singer, she never sang an opening theme or character theme for the series in any of her arcs, contrary to almost all of the other heroines who get arcs focused on them.
