Thank you for this interview! It was very interesting to hear her take on seinen manga, as I’d never heard it used as a catch-all genre before. Her approach to disabilities and her thoughts on using magic to help make society a more disability-friendly place makes me think she must’ve either worked with or known someone who was wheelchair-bound to make her so cognizant of their “invisible” struggles.

| Quote: | | For inspirations outside of Western properties, she said that she also drew a lot from lesser-known shojo titles such as the 1987 series Knights of Alfheim by Seika Nakayama and Yūho Ashibe's 1981 series Crystal Dragon when creating Witch Hat Atelier. |
Shirahama is a shoujo fan? Massive W.
| Quote: | | She was also asked about the level of diversity featured throughout the series concerning race and sexual orientation and how much of that was intentional. She stated that she sees that kind of diversity as a very natural thing, and since she saw a lot of diversity in the works she grew up on as a child, it was something that she wanted to see reflected in her own. |
Ho ho, naruhodo, this makes sense after reading the manga, probably one of the most diversed manga outside obvious Yaoi Yuri Genre.

Interview articles like these are very very informative and nice!
Please keep up the good work, it is important to have creators share their reativity and way of thought and ANN can be a good source for that.
