I'm glad we're getting a continuation and, while I would have preferred a proper season two, knowing that we're getting an international release of the film so soon after Japan is nice surprise.

Well, the film's story is canonical, which would have to release before season 2, which is likely also on the way.
I still feel that Season 1 would've benefitted greatly if it was longer and ended with this arc instead of saving it for a movie. This story nicely rounds up a lot of the themes introduced in season 1 with regards to the characters of Denji and Aki versus the arc where Season 1 ended, that would've made it much better.
