Excellent! This has been one of my most wanted titles for home video.
City Hunter is my favorite series easily, so between this and the manga getting re-licensed, this is shaping up to be a fantastic year. |

A shame to see it's not getting the Discotek touch to go along with the rest of the collection, but I guess that's how it goes when Aniplex are involved...

I am Glad to see Angel Dust arrive on Blu Ray in region 1. Discotek has allowed me to watch this Classic Anime Series. A fun show.

Love seeing another company swoop in to take a sequel installment to an anime that a different company picked up and not even doing the bare minimum of continuing the dub.

Oof. This movie carries the same SRP Discotek's season 3 and City Hunter 91 sets. Maybe Shout Factory should have checked the room before settling on a price.

I do find this attitude odd. Very little of City Hunter has been dubbed and the vast majority which has, the movies and TV specials via ADV Films, inexplicably changed Ryo's name to Joe, partly in order to try and get a deal to broadcast it on cable TV. I mean Discotek didn't even dub the Death of the Vicious Criminal Ryo Saeba TV special, but oddly you're not getting stuck into them about that. Having said that I do not understand why the US version is so expensive. In fact it's costs $12 more than the standard UK release and is more or less identical. Also sounds like All the Anime could have had another run through of the subtitle script before pressing up the blu-ray, but I have a bit of backlog and not watched my disc to confirm. |

I mean I guess I could rip into Discotek for that but I also recognise how low their dubbing budget can be and why prioritising the newer Shinjuku Private Eyes film was more worthwhile to them. Still though, I find it exceedingly frustrating that an effort to dub the new installments of the franchise was just plain ignored by Anime Limited and now they not only have bungled the theatrical release they initially promised but have this release out that is already being criticised for being overpriced to boot. It's just not a great look overall and begs the question of why they even got the film to begin with. |
