Son of a bitch! I hate hearing this. I didn’t have any expectations for the remainder of the films to ever be made, but it’s still sad. Losing any BL company is not good.

RIP Twittering Birds. The first film was just the set up; the second film would’ve had all the good stuff.
Covid must have thrown a huge wrench in things because back in Feb. 2020, Grizzly was posting screenshots from The Storm Breaks: https://natalie.mu/comic/news/367392 |

Studios don't really have a say in what they want to produce unless it's entirely original and/or they hire someone to write something for them. A lot of the time, they can nominate themselves to do a project or the managaka/authror chooses them. Ultimately, the production commitee decides if something is worth persuing. MAPPA might have wanted to do more Yuri on Ice, but it could have not been very profitable for them, there's many other reasons why anime doesn't get a continuation. |

A lot of people don't seem to realize that just because they like something doesn't mean it was profitable or a success. The BL market in particular is very specific. I haven't seen any of these works but there's certain BL that the market likes over others although some people dislike the BL that actually end up being popular. |

BL is very popular, Morikawa Toshiyuki voice practically every person in BL anime, he is like an official BL ambassador. |

God, I loved the Twittering Birds movie but now it's forever going to have a cliffhanger ending.
Wish they were allowed to make more than 3 projects |

I was thinking "how have I never heard of this studio?" but considering they've only done projects from two series, one of which I think I tried and disliked, that makes sense. Seems like they didn't get much of a chance.

So, uh, does them being called Grizzly mean they only did bear/bara stuff or is that just a weird coincidence. I'm not into that myself and prefer more cute boys.

Yuri on Ice was one of the top selling anime of the 2010s, the problem is MAPPA didn't see any of it because they weren't part of the production committee. |

I don't think they did any proper bara stuff. Twittering Birds had a muscular MC (not super bara though) but also a skinny one, and Yarachin was more aligned with cute boys (but not the super feminine art style some yaoi has). So basically just a coincidence. __ Never saw any of their releases but I do recall the trailer for Twittering had some lovely animation, and it seemed like a real passion project with a predominantly female team I believe? So it's a real shame it's died, especially before they could finish Twittering. Also love how the Mappa connection was like the worst kept secret ever. |
