Yaaaaay! I was a big fan of the comics and Nina well before I participated in the site. It took getting nerdier about anime and circling back to actually participate here, but it warms my hear to see her!

Has it really been 25 years? I remember all of them.

I remember Nina, but the previous one not at all.
I'll take your word that she's a real character, haha.

But I don't know how long I've been reading the site. Definitely not 25 years. Maybe 10?

I haven't been around on ANN for all of its lifespan, but I do distinctly remember Jadress sitting on the upper left-hand corner of the site banner back when I started browsing in the early-mid '00s. Nice to see she's still kicking!

It's actually been 27 years if you're going back to the original original Anime News Network website from 1998 but that website became inactive for a while. It's 25 years if you're only counting the "current" era.

Thanks because I was genuinely confused as my memory was that this was one of the very first websites I ever went to, and that indeed would have been before the turn of the millennium.

I think the distinction between the two ANN's is something like this:

Anime News Network Mk. I (1998-2000) : Hobby website created and run by one person.
Anime News Network Mk. II (2000-today) : Professional news website with a staff of writers and editors.

^God I love the wayback machine! The Internet Archive along with Wikipedia are probably the most important websites in the world.

What can we say, Elfs and sharp noses along with fantasy was the style of the time with The Slayers and Lodoss being big hits at the time. Now it's just something called easy guy.
