I don't know, the premise gives me some air of... uneasiness. Especially the final part of the story description, which implies their relationship will eventually be more physical.

Man, Shoujo don't play around, huh?  The most you'll get in a typical Shonen is a boring human dude and a "cat girl" (which really just means a girl with cat ears and a tail), with some fanservice thrown in for good measure.

It’s understandable that the premise, particularly the final part of the story description suggesting a more physical relationship, creates a sense of unease for you. You’re acknowledging that specific element of the story gives you pause and is something you’re not entirely comfortable with.

Less on smut, more on interspecies. Same reason why some people back away from The Shape of Water. Swap the gender and the reaction will be the same.

Well, I mean, interspecies it's part of smut for women for whatever reason.
Internet likes to make fun of catgirls, but women are into animal men way more. "Monster-fucker" its a real book-retail term for a reason.
