WWWave Corporation's Deregula anime label is producing the anime.

i'm really hoping that wwwave won't do what they did with yandere dark elf (i mean, that was already kinda kneecapped from second 1 when they didn't adapt the e-manga version, although the onus could land on either wwwave or amc/sentai) where they threw the license to hidive instead of their own platform. especially since wwwave is producing it. ironic because makina-san was in the same season, and they picked that up for oceanveil. sounds like a good concept, and with kaya-chan haunting tv screens, i've been curious about shows like it (besides meiruko-chan).

still don't know why they did that during said season.

The story follows Shizuka, a high school girl who can see ghosts. She works as an assistant to the famous psychic Kamui, who has an unusual method for exorcism.

Without knowing anything else about the series, I have a feeling the words "unusual method" are doing a lot of heavy llifting in this premise...

Unless Sentai was involved with the production, the fact that they licensed it has nothing to do with the content of the series.
Presumably Sentai paid them enough to make it worth it to not go with their own service.
Or, and I don't know if it's still done, or even if it is, if wwwave/oceanviel does it this way, but I do remember reading that with some companies foreign subsidiaries still had to bid on titles just as if they weren't a part of the company.

I'd recommend checking out Dark Gathering if you want another semi-recent horror series to check out Smile

He is essentially a sex-orcist.
