Those character designs are hideous. Or is it just me?

I'm surprised that this was created. Tom & Jerry is popular in Japan because most of its comedy is pantomime; Looney Tunes is much more dependent on verbal comedy and thus, translations that are not awkward.

Which is why you make your own adaptation with it’s own dialog.
For the moment seems to be just you. |

Its not just them. Those are some REALLY UGLY designs, and I am not just comparing them to the original Looney Tunes but the way more successful Tom And Jerry Gokko which actually achieve cuteness. I do hope we see Tweety because he is very popular in Japan and I heard he has extremely cute voices there.

Hideous might be a bit of an overstatement, but I really don't like those designs. |

The character designs look horrendous, barely recognizable.

Worse than the Loonatics Unleashed designs that nearly everyone shat over back in the day?
Now this is overstatement I can recognize everyone in the videos. The funny thing about the designs of the Looney Tunes characters is that a number of them have undergone major and minor designs to their character models for one reason or the next. The one weird thing is how everyone has blush stickers. These designs were done seemingly with the intent on making the characters cuter. |

Totally agreed, and that's the problem: "cute" was never the intent with the original designs (beyond maybe Tweety). These characters were all rascals, and the designs reflected that. Granted, even the American designs have shaded in a cuter direction with updates over the decades, but their rascal nature has never been completely subsumed to cuteness like these designs do. I won't say these designs are bad, but as someone who grew up watching the classic Looney Tunes weekly, I definitely don't like them. |
