EP. REVIEW: Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 4

So, to anime-onlies, the new episode made a mistake this week. No, not Crunchy. The anime made the mistake this time. The mistake is massive, as it was a direct hint to what is going on with Subaru right now. By nature of telling the mistake, I point toward a massive mystery this arc, so use your own discretion. This spoiler tag is for anime-onlies who have seen the episode already:

spoiler[When Subaru falls underground and touches the door, he says he opened three doors and was on the 4th door that wouldn't open, just like before he lost his memories. This is incorrect. In the novels, he actually opened FOUR doors this time, and was on the 5th. There is a major reason for this and the anime messed up, which means the scene no longer makes sense.]

I don't actually remember this. I don't remember what happened ||in the underground|| in the LN. Could you remind me of all the details?

The same thing as what happens in the anime, except Newbaru spoiler[can explicitely detect the scent of the miasma for some reason] and spoiler[when he goes through the doors, he goes through 4 of them, which is intriguing because when he first was there with Ram and Anastasia/Echidna several episodes ago, he was only able to open 3 of them. Why can he get through 4 of them now? Well, that's the question, isn't it. ]

Like a lot of hints in Re:Zero, it's extremely subtle. If you're not paying attention, you'll read right past it. So subtle, in fact, the anime writers read right past it! Lol So don't feel bad.

I did wonder if this would get touched on later on, so glad to see my hunch was correct. I have no idea what it means tho, so for now I'm just sitting here twiddling my thumbs as I try to puzzle things out.

Jesus based on the novel Christ by Sapphire can we [expletive] move onward somehow?! I’m about ready for this [expletive] tower to be burned to the ground and bulldozed over just to make sure it doesn’t ever come back. And everyone needs to get their damn memories back! I’m exhausted from trying to keep up with everything!

I'm personally loving this arc! Most intriguing this show has been in a long time.

For me Re;Zero is like the game where you die and repeat each time figuring out a little more about what is going on.

Of course, if all that build-up doesn't come together well at the end, then it's right to complain.

I'm avoiding reading spoilers people are putting up. Shame if the anime entirely missed something. Though maybe there's a chance they are simply rewriting stuff for later/different episodic order reveals?

I am greatly saddened that they did nothing with Aura Monster. I guess they thought putting it in the OP was enough

Aura Monster was never a big deal in the novels. The only reason it *became* a big deal is that tiktokers and larpers *made* it a big deal. The fact that it's called "Aura Monster" when Subaru has negative aura in that sequence (particularly in the original web novel where he's crying that whole time) is indicative that it was hyped up by people who had no idea what the actual context was. It was never gonna be this huge thing in the anime

So Subaru's mental deterioration and ideas of murdering other is completely normal for the story? For a second I thought somebody was playing with his head.

However, it's likely not the real Rem as the true clue is that the killer refers to Subaru as “hero”—implying that they were at Priestella to see him claim that title.

The aura monster, or the doors? because the doors as far as I know have yet to be fully explained, though I think it can be easily extrapolated what the purpose of them are and how to unlock them. I figured it out when I was reading.
