It would probably be fair to say Mr. Iwamoto hasn't done anything particularly good yet, but it hasn't done anything unforgivable either has it? The second episode has a community rating of 1.4 stars as I write this.

Did I miss something that fired people up to hate this more than the worst shows of the season like The World's Lowest Budget Reargaurd Isekai, The Insipid Prince, and Kamui:The Rapexorcist?

Episode 2

Yeah, that is kind of strange. I'm digging it. Perhaps it is only drawing a small audience and by coincidence, that tiny audience isn't liking it and rating it accordingly.

I watched the first episode a few days ago and didn't feel strongly enough about it to comment one way or another. Maybe I was tired or distracted, but I didn't really track the metaphysical significance of the black flowers thing. I mean, I get that the town was trying to keep the guy imprisoned so that they could make a living off of him, and that his ability *could* have some harmful side effects, but a lot of the particulars of how the rules worked eluded me.

The MC and the music and the look all seemed a bit mopey and grey to me, which is the main reason I'm not interested in it. It wasn't chillaxin' and it wasn't exciting and the school full of pretty boys to look at isn't my thing. What's left seems more about the drama, and I might normally stick around a bit because of the paranormal element, but I'm currently following (I had to briefly click and consult my anime calendar here) 35 anime already and getting ready to start trimming.

But I'd give it 3 stars. That's like a C, right?

Yeah I'd think three stars is pretty fair. These have the basic shape of something like a mushishi episode. He goes to some village to investigate a strange report, encounters some type of dark, supernatural, weirdness then resolves the situation. But then it's got the extra plot line that some of the things he encounters could be considered dangerous or powerful enough that the government would take an interest, and those cases are being brought to some type of school or base where a more long term story seems to be brewing. Looks like it *could* get interesting, but yeah not much happening yet.
