I don't know if it was just my volume, but I found something that I can not over look and that I am very upset about. While reading my book, I found out that pages 33-40 were repeated in the volume! That's right, I was just reading normally and when I past page 40, I found that the next page was 33! It repeated the last 7 pages and finally continued normally after that page 40 had past.

I found this a really horrible and badly overlooked problem in this book. I just want to know if anyone has found the same problem in one of their copies of Pluto.

It's probably just your copy (and maybe a few more). Those pages would be chapter 2 right? I was just reading chapter 2 today...which I think covers pages 30ish to 60ish(??) and it was fine.

Yeah, it's probably an isolated error. The signatures probably just got mixed up when the book went through the printer. It happens sometimes. It's not like someone can personally look at every book that gets printed to make sure every page is in the right place.

You should have no problem taking it back to the store where you got it and getting a new one.

Yes, the pages were from chapter 2.

I could but I lost the receipt and stuff.

Anyways, thanks for answering back. I just wanted to know if this was a big problem or anything. Talk about my luck. Out of the probably one million copies sent out through the country, I end up getting the one with a big error in it.

If it's a printing error, just bring it into the store and ask for an exchange. The store can send it back to the publisher for a full refund.

I picked up my copy last week at my local comic book shop and I do not have this printing error.

I absolutely loved this first volume, my only problem being the last few pages. The location is not clearly stated.....I recognize the building obviously, but I think American/English readers will be thrown for a moment, if not quite abit, by those last two pages.

Urasawa is my favorite manga author, I'm so glad to finally have Pluto published over here.

The only problem I had with Pluto vol. 1 is the resolution of the opening colour pages was pretty low, to the point where you could see the jagged pixel edges of the lines. Comparitively, the same pages in the Japanese version were perfectly printed.
It's not a major thing, just a little annoyance.

Yeah I know what you're talking about, the color pages seemed kinda cheaply presented. I know the Japanese manga volumes are usually smaller than the english ones though. So it might have been that they had to stretch it out and that's how the jagged edges appeared, but that's still no excuse since it barely happens with the black and white drawings. Oh, and my first 2 volumes didn't have any printing errors either.

Urasawa's my favorite too Wink

There is no such problem in my copy. It's a common type of error, though -- it happens, and it's of course grounds for a replacement copy or a full refund. Don't sweat it, just take it back.

Oh, and it's not a "huge" error, since it's only in your copy (and presumably the others from the same binding batch), nor is it a "printing error", since it's an artifact of the binding process. In any case... try to avoid exaggerated words like "huge" when giving a thread a title. They make you sound panicky and Chicken Little-ish. No call for that.

Also...

It's the Guggenheim, obviously. But, as you say, the location is never stated -- so why can't it be in NYC?

Occasionall printing errors are unavoidable. I have one copy of Gunslinger Girl vol 6 where the first chapter is printed backwards, upside down, and shifted. Actually, I bought it specifically because of that since I think unique misprints like that are sort of neat to collect.
