One word: AKIRA. Make this the first thing you watch if you are over the age of 13. I have a friend who watched it when he was 6 and it messed him up forever. Also try Perfect Blue, Cowboy Bebop the Movie (The TV series is good too), and, even though it is not anime, Returner (The subtitled version).

You just want movies?
Ninja Scroll Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (I don't like it that much, but the action was at least decent) Cowboy Bebop Knockin' on Heaven's Door Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture Street Fighter Alpha: The Motion Picture Akira This is all I can think of from the top of my head right now. And welcome to the forums! |

I personally reccomend Jin-Roh, but that's just me. All of the others mentioned here are quite good as well

I don't know very many action animes. But I would definitely recommend Evangelion or Yu Yu Hakusho.

Out of all the titles mentioned here, and all I can think of a must see would be ninja scroll. Nice story line, with the right mixture of action. swords, explosives, electric shock powers, and killer bee - not too bad

Jin-Roh: Subdued action with a lot of psychology and a tragic plot.
Spriggan: Butt-kicking action with a not-half-bad story to boot. Cowboy Bebop, Knockin' on Heaven's Door: A great continuation of the series. Akira: Classic of sorts, worth a couple viewings to get it all straight. |

I like Jin-Roh a lot. I rated it "masterpiece," but I don't know if I'd suggest it as an "action" movie.
The movie is a lot more story driven than anything else. Lots of dialogue and no real action except for the beginning and end. And even then, it's not much. I had a friend of mine borrow, and he didn't like it because "it never really went anywhere," according to him. Ah well, if psychology is your thing, I definately suggest it. I still need to see Perfect Blue too... |

lol...Well I guess for me when I watched Jin-Roh for the first time I was so enthralled in the plot that in some ways it seemed like an action movie to me because I was literally on the edge of my seat. The only reason I remember is because my friends still make fun of me for it to this very day. Yeah, now that I think about it really isn't very much of an action flick at all, but it's more plot driven. I still reccomend it nonetheless.
