Definitely gonna pick up the BD's when the release date is closer so I have cushion in case there's a delay. Since this is a native HD show I assume the BD's will be good and won't put a knot in the panties of videophiles.

That may be so, but do you think the Japanese audio will be included at the price they are asking? If Bandai Ent can't do it... |

Yea, Bandai can't do a lot of things Funimation can. For example: Consistently stick to release dates Have non-defective discs Do dubs License several shows a year Not be a pawn of the Japanese and much more It's not like the Japanese audio matters to me anyways, but I'm pretty confident Funimation is allowed both audios on their BDs. Funi is like Japan's favorite kid while Bandai is the kid who made several bad decisions and went completely sideways in life and shamed their parents. Hmm, have you noticed that Funimation cancelled blu ray of Nabari no OU and Soul Eater recently? Must have missed that. Edit, sorrry Second half of D. Gray Man first season blu ray has been cancelled for now. Dont know why I had Soul Eater in my mind. |

I can't find info anywhere that confirms a hybrid. Seems kinda too good to be true if it did. I for one would be pretty upset if they didn't get the audio track. I don't usually watch dubs unless its with the lady. If they did though it would be a Japanese fans wet dream, considering of course they wanted just the show and none of the limited edition goodies their releases came with. Same thing with Dragon Ball Kai. Japanese BD boxes with pretty much the same runtime go for $100 more than what Amazon is asking. FUNi might get a lot of importation going on.
Also when has FUNi ever released a BD of anything that aired in HD with the HD source material, and wasn't an upscale they did themselves? I've heard Tsubasa was supposed to be, but it turns out they just ended up upscaling (causing frame rate issues) and didn't even us a Japanese HD audio track. I'm glad they have given us lossless tracks on some of their BD's, but they have yet to give us a release with true HD material. Ok, consistently stick to release dates. A few push backs and two cancellations are not a problem. You must of missed how Bandai recently has had more delays in a single month than actual releases and how they're pushing the same 4 shows because that's all they have unlike Funimation who has several shows they're working on and rereleasing, but still consistently meet their dates. THAT is a problem.
I know that sounds really snarky (it's supposed to), but it's not supposed to be mean. Just letting you know because tone doesn't translate on the net and I don't want you getting mad. |

Nice to see it's finally up for pre-order. I may end up pre-ordering for my birthday (since I seriously doubt Funi will have it at their booth for a week-in-advanced release when I go to A-Cen this year), since I'm not going to want to wait in collecting these like I have with the first series (I still need to get the Season 2 set XP).

Since when did Funimation cancel the D Gray Man bluray? The listing for it is still on Rightstuf, RACS, and Amazon. I knew the Nabari bluray was cancelled. Where did you hear about this? If it's true then I am very sad |

I can't wait for this. I doubt this one is an upscale since it was actually made and broadcast in HD.
Alot of the Funi BD upscales were for shows that didn't actually any of those criteria. |

The FMA fan in me says, "Buy it now! Buy it now!" The smart person in me says, "Wait until a full set comes out then buy it!" I might have to go with the latter since I'm recording it off Adult Swim anyway.

^There's also:
Afro Samurai Afro Samurai: Resurrection One Piece movie 8 Shigurui: Death Frenzy Origin And possibly Vexille too, since it was made in '07. But I'm not 100% sure on that. |

I usually wait for official announcements (ANN, TRSI, Funimation blog) for upcoming releases. Luckily, TRSI has put up on their site that Funimation's May 2010 releases are ready for pre-order.
I might as well join the Blu-ray bandwagon. After all, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood on Blu-ray costs $5 more than its DVD counterpart. The only part missing is a TRSI Funimation sale. |
