You'd think with that many awards, some English Dubbing company would license Summer Wars for a release... or maybe that's just me.

It's also playing at MIT with the director present on March 1st. I'm hoping that means it's licensed in the US/North America. It'd be a little odd if they played a fansubbed version with the director there.

To be fair, this is for a non-R1 dub/release for the UK.

I also continue to be baffled why this has not been licensed in R1 yet. I hope Manga brings it over, or.... anyone else grabs it soon. And puts it on Blu-ray.

An officially subtitled version has existed for ages. How else do you expect them to try and sell the anime to non-Japanese speaking countries?

It has been officially subbed so that people looking to license the movie in their territories can actually watch and understand it and not for general releases (i.e the public). Whether the same version is used for film screenings I don't know (at the very least it'll be missing the 'preview copy' marker).

I know for example the subs on TGWLTT when it was shown at the ICA were different from the eventual DVD release for example. (Although this isn't quite the same thing)

I really want to see this licensed in R1 but at least the free screening at MIT will suffice ... for now.

Congratulations Mamoru Hosoda, Satoko Okudera, Youji Takeshige, and Yoshiyuki Sadamoto!

K-On won an award? It TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTALLLLLLLLLLLLLY deserved it! Cool

Always wanted to try that line out and see how it feels to say something deserves it without there being any reason provided why it should be the case. Awesome.

Anyway this is the money making award if I'm not mistaken right?

Great to see Time of Eve honored.

I enjoyed it far more than anything else listed.

Thanks for the info. Makes perfect sense. I had just never really thought about it.
