I been thinking about this for a minute I mean is anime just a part of there culture like we got Big Macs or is it a cultual sensation like it is to us?

Yeah, they like it soo much that hundreds of titles are being ripped and sold as bootlegs. (atleast in Honk Kong.)

a question i often think about also, i mean im sure it's the same(not exactly the same) here as it is over there...some like it some don't. cause a girl i know named masami from japan didn't really take much notice to it when i was watching EoE, just kind of glanced towards it, with no exknowlegement.i've never really asked her though if she likes anime, or if a lot of people do over there. i noticed that (some) take a lot more liking to the things us americans are into, atleast it seems that way with ones that i've seen. but again, the only thing i conclude from it is that yeah, im sure there are a lot of anime fans out there in japan just as here but at the same time just as many that don't like it, maybe a little more, or a little less. i really don't know. i really don't know about china though, im sure there are. i hear there's a small fanbase over in korea though.

There are a lot more anime fans in Japan than in the US. The difference is that in Japan it's not anime but rather just animation.

Usually, Anime there is more adorated than Europe or USA. Basically, all stuff starts there, and there're also a lot of animes that never leaves Japan. There are more fans, but I think it's because there's also a lot of more things. Also, don't forget that most anime events take place in Japan.
In China, I'm not sure at all. Well, western chinese don't, basically, because it's pretty different. Eastern chinese have more possibilites, and also there's more stuff than here. However, I haven't noticed a lot of things from there, so I guess that anime, in China, must be something like here. The only difference is that maybe they have more companies, etc. Or, even more, they can just grab a quick travel to Japan and get something there  . It should be cheaper...

Most people in the US, at least of those people who have grown out of liking cartoons in general (with a handful of exceptions, but, even then, it's not like everyone watches The Simpsons or King of the Hill), don't like anime. Except for those of us that like one of the handful of really popular kiddy franchise shows, the sort of anime the sort of person who would visit a site like this like is very, very niche. But most of the more mature series that get popular within the North American fandom niche actually only have small niche followings in Japan, since the sort of anime the average Japanese salaryman watches, if they bother to watch anime at all, is stuff like Sazae-san or the occasional Ghibli film. So, as a niche phenomenon, anime fandom within Japan isn't that unlike anime fandom in North America.

Yes I guess that would make sense. I guess the main difference is that in Japan there are a lot of casual anime watchers who wouldn't really consider themselves fans but do watch anime every now and then. |

if you been to japan, like in Tokyo. You'll find people, even adults on subways either reading manga or playing games on their cell phone

That's true. I used to live in the Philippines and when they showed the DBZ "The Greatest Rivals"(It's actually the two Cooler movies combined and dubbed in English) in 1995, they were advertizing it alot. There were a lot of DBZ posters in the malls to promote the movie. Another movie they advertized like that was one of the Yuyu Hakusho movies.
