DC is shuttering their WildStorm imprint, which they had purchased from Jim Lee a decade ago or so, moving any of the continuing titles [apparently a number of their licensed titles] over to their DC Imprint It's unclear what this means for Wildstorm's offices in California [ie- will they close them down? or have them continue editing/creating some of DC's titles?] What does this have to do with manga? WildStorm was the division of DC who started the CMX manga division, and managed it. Them shuttering the CMX imprint 2 months ago makes me wonder if that was an early indication that Wildstorm itself would also be closing up shop. It could be unrelated, but their overall moves does indicate a focused to content that they own [some of Wildstorm's titles were creator owned]. Or a focus on their mainline since that's the most profitable of their divisions. Either way, their range is becoming less diverse, but I guess it's just up to other pubs to pick up the slack. DC is also ending their webcomic division Zuda [who had only started publishing collections], leaving Vertigo and Mad Magazine as their sole remaining imprints. Most of CMX's staffers were also Wildstorm staffers, so here's hoping things work out for them as they encounter another shuffle and closures. |

I was into Fire Investigator Nanase. Had four of the GN and waiting for number five and learn that they were shuting down the CMX operation.
A few other American publishers that I had bought manga from stopped publishing manga that I read. I would hope another publisher would pickup GN that other publishers have dropped so readers can continue what they have enjoyed reading. Anime production you have companies that discontinued their productions and a company like Funimation is picking up old and new anmie to produce for the fans out there. |
