The question is a little open ended..
but one I could recomend to most people is Jungle Wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu (TV) and the OVA's anime#1140 YMMV |

Sakigate is great. FLCL is also funny in a weird, insane kind of way. Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu is also very funny

I personaly enjoyed Comic Party and Azumanga Daioh. You may also want to check out Excel Saga. That anime is filled with craziness

Excel Saga and Miami Guns are both pure comedies that I rank among the funniest anime out there - although in both cases they're funniest if you're quite well-versed on anime and Japanese culture in general.
The first season of Steel Angel Kurumi is also tremendously funny for the first 3/4 of its run, after which it gets serious. The Encore eps for this series are also quite funny. In neither case do you need to know anything about anime to appreciate the humor. Mahoromatic is also quite funny when it's trying to be funny, but it also gets into some heavy drama. |

Crayon Shin-chan is one of my top picks. If you can find it, watch it. It's great. You can start with any of the seasons, because it's episodic so you won't miss much if you start in the middle.

I'm with Tony all the way on GTO subbed. Its pure gold, heh its inspirational to boot, I know when I put in GTO and sit through a few episodes Onizuka's whole never give up attitude is contageous. I start thinking about all the things I can do if I set my mind to it.
At any rate I highly recommend it. |
