I figured the angel's shiftless parents would be making an appearance soon, but I was picturing the mom showing up to cause problems, not for Dad to start playing "Pops up the Weasel." It's a mark of how bad I was expecting Dad to be that his I'm-not-mean-I'm-just-a-weak-deadbeat routine had me not disliking him as much as I expected.

Our MCs have practically vowed to stay together for life at this point.

I have to admit, I couldn't help a couple of internal sarcastic comments about the angel dressing up as a maid being redundant.

The show is one big "shmooze it or lose it" display of sappy romance at this point, but I still remember how long it took to get to this point enough to dig it.

Looks like Chitose's future father-in-law is going to make the idea of problematic fathers become an official theme for this season.

Welp, Amane's parents are flat out calling Shina their future daughter, and neither Amane nor Shina is arguing with them. Amane's gotten past his bullying past and Shina's parental situation seems to be the last thing on the agenda.

To expand a bit on last week's shmooze comment, I'm less critical of this anime's season 2 than I am some others because I don't think there's going to be a season 3, and it's giving the first season a sense of closure that I appreciate.

I liked the second season but I am also done with the series after it. You can only be a sickeningly sweet acting couple so many times before it starts to feel repetitive. The fact that there was no real drama is something I appreciated yet also meant that it felt all the more repetitive. I do appreciate that the remnants of the bully incident from the past were dealt with though.

Well, if you feel like your blood sugar levels have increased from watching this show, here's something that chill that blood a little bit. I mentioned this theory early on in season 1, but now I have a bit more technical knowhow. Look at this picture.

Look familiar? Yet this is supposedly the female lead from a series called For Some Reason, the School Goddess Likes to Hang Out at My House

Not freaked out yet? Check out this novel summary from Novel Updates:

Day after day, Tokiwagi Towa spends all of his time toiling at his part-time job. His life was far from fulfilling. One day, by a strange coincidence, he gets involved with Wakamiya Rin, a beauty who was the most popular girl in his school. They weren’t supposed to have anything to do with each other. And yet, this is how these two people gradually come to a compromise with each other’s differences.

Sound familiar?

It seems pretty clear to me what's going on here. Our "Angel" is actually some kind of deranged female serial killer going around from high school to high school picking up stray guys by pretending to be an aloof, popular but lonely high school idol. She gets them good and hooked and then, bam! Off to another school with blood under her fingernails. She's probably really a thirty something with really good skin and a truly black heart...

Well, maybe not. But it helps to think about it when the sweetness gets too thick.

In a way, this anime's sequel was a bit like the second season of Aharen-san is Indecipherable in that it started with the leads as having just become a couple and then proceeded to give a 12 episode goodbye to high school and hello to adulthood.

But I liked the first seasons enough that I appreciated having a bit more time to say goodbye.
