Those feelings arent mutually exclusive. I actually do like the sibling dynamic when Yuki isn't cupping her breasts and talking about her cup size. But even at its most off-putting, it's still more interesting than the dynamic with Alya. |

Yeah, I actually fully agree that Yuki has been part of many of the best scenes in the show. Her banter with other characters can be top-notch.

Hey, I had somehow forgotten about that site. Thank you minamikaze, I'll try to actually keep this in mind for future discussions on the topic; it's a welcomed building on my own post.

Same - don't get me wrong, I think Yuki is a lot of fun and a great character. Even in terms of comedy, there are different sides to her. I think a lot of us are just finding one of the recurring jokes kind of uncomfortable and wish they'd do it less, but at least to me that's not a reason to give up her on her as a character, or declare permanent Alya supremacy or something. Alya sometimes has her own cringey tsundere antics that I'm personally not a big fan of either, but that's right there in the title so it's harder to complain about it. |

When Masachika woke up, and Yuki was not seen, I knew she'd be under the bed waiting to grab his leg as he gets up. They set the joke up a few episodes in advance, and they delivered as promised.

spoiler[One of the conditions Yuki has, aside grades, to live with Kuze, is that she keeps their family relationship secret. Kuze is essentially disowned by their maternal grandfather/family (because of turning down the heir position due to all the pressure that broke him down) and they don't want to them or Yuki publicly associated with him. A lot of this I expect to be explained in trickles in coming episodes.] According to comments I've read, the author in a past interview stated that the story was originally intended to be an isekai, with a Japanese schoolgirl pulled to another world where she would have been making similar quips to her teammates, unaware that one of the others was also from Japan and could understand her. But apparently, the author wasn't so keen on the world-building part of it so they set the setting in Japan instead, with a foreign exchange student in the titular role... Edit; Here's the source for the interview mentioned; https://ddnavi.com/interview/893361/a/ Last edited by Blanchimont on Fri Aug 09, 2024 5:07 pm; edited 1 time in total |

For some reason the romance rivalry reminds me of Oshi no Ko but the current Kana vs Akane is too balanced when compared with Alya and the sister. It feels like Alya is way too weak at this point even though the protagonist made it serious that he would support her. The talk at the coffee shop was kinda boring as they barely showed interest in any election and it felt like an excuse for an indirect kiss that finishes the sequence

I don't know where you got that consensus, because I, for one, literally said I'd rather watch the version of this show where it's just Yuki. Like you, I have nothing against Alya, but Yuki is way more entertaining. |

Seems like Masachika is working through drama over the the middle school election, his mom, and his complicated relationship with Yuki all the while being quite the stud around Alya.
I love how Yuki is playing herself up as Alya's love rival (without even needing to actually lie) just to make the election more interesting. Dang, these siblings sure love bullying Alya. Then again, she kind of brings it on herself. Of course Masha is the angel and Yuki is the devil. And the devil wins. |

I started reading the books and while the adaption is mostly faithful, there have been a few moments cut here and there that might help better explain some of the character dynamics. Not sure why the animators went that way.
That said, some of the "mystery" regarding the siblings' background has kept me intrigued and looking forward to the next episode each week. |

Episode 7 has restored some of my faith on this show. And Masha is becoming my favorite girl.

I see why Ayano is the perfect balance to Yuki. She's so serious and straightforward that she'll say and believe in anything and sometimes even through Yuki off.
Ah yes, the Suou patriarch in all his jerk glory. Alya is so worried about Yuki as a rival that she keeps missing her big sister is the true threat, especially when she gets along so naturally with Masachika and gets him well. Ah, I forgot this is how Taniyama was first introduced, but she kind of shoves Alya's problems as a candidate in her face as someone who "stole" Masachika from Yuki and is coasting on his skills and prestige because she's nowhere near as popular as Yuki (both in-universe and out). Though it was still really rude of Taniyama. But hey, Ikumi Hasegawa! |

i find it really inetersting with the cuts they have done, they have been 3 very important lines of dialogue that are cut, which would have given more insight to Masachika and the character dinamic.
In the episode 2 at the dinner they cut out an entire scene where Yuki and Alya compares Masachika good and bad sides, and this is here where we get a first glimps of him being somewhat of a prodigy, with him getting into the school on his own. spoiler[it is later revealed he did this with just 6 months of prepwork just to spite his mom and grandpa] they cut out a line that changes Maria's role in past, i am not gonna put it in spoiler since the anime has shown it to be her, and the VA are even credit as younger Maria. Maria is not the childhood friends, she is the childhood girlfriend. and i really wanna know why they did not include that. They also cut a line from last week episode where Masachiki let it slip he was in someway family with Yuki to Alya. At the dinner when she asked him if loves Yuki, Masachika responds with "No way, Yuki and i are like family they is no romantic feelings there" and i wonder why this line is cut since it ends up being a set up for one of the more fun misunderstanding in the show. |

"When Alya barely around" OOOOOOOF
Critic went in there....not that I agree with that. Clearly Alya's sister and Yuki are the main eye catchers of this show. |
