The story sounds intriguing. I wouldn't mind seeing this.

This was effective as a sci-fi horror story up until the first Mariner satelite photos showed that Mars was basically a dead planet with no life, certainly none the size of the "Martians" in the story. This version looks like it would work better as a game instead of a movie.
