Hopefully the second one will be released on BD/DVD before the third one comes out since I missed the second on in theaters. >__<

Well hopefully Viz can catch up since you'd imagine that by August next year, the final film will be released on DVD/BD.
I just hope that we have a continuation of Berserk. I don't want it to end with these movies. Crying or Very sad

Wouldn't that "2" between all that kanji and the 2013 at the bottom of the poster mean it's February?

So is it January or February?

Poster have incorrect date? Comic Natalie report incorrectly? Whoever translated the article make a mistake?

Or am I wrong here and just confusing myself? Embarassed

I've heard the second film cuts worse than the first film, and I'm inclined to believe it. I don't have much enthusiasm left for this project, I hope it does end in this current incarnation and they do the post-Eclipse arcs in another manner by another team.

What do you mean by "cuts worse"? Everything I've heard about these suggests that the 2nd film was overall better than the first. (slightly) Improved CG and better pacing being the two things most reviews I've read point out.

Dunno. Kotaku guy seemed to like it better than the first one. Besides I don't know how much there is to cut. It covers the Doldrey siege and probably up to Griffith's imprisonment and the timeskip. It didn't take that much time in manga iirc.

My Japanese is pretty weak so I'm not sure exactly what the 2 means, but I'm fairly certain the line at the bottom does indicate January (it might be saying something connected to New Year's, or it might just be January and something else). I can see why you would think that though.

正月映画 (shôgatsu eiga) is an expression that refers to movies released between November and early January.

正月第2弾 (shôgatsu dai 2-dan), the one used here, is for movies released between mid-January and February.

He means, the fact they removed Minister Foss from the film, Zodd wasn't in the film, the queen doesn't get burned, hell she probably doesn't exist. There was no bonfire of dreams, no Griffith selling his ass. Hell Judeau and Corkus don't even speak to Guts at the bar when he's about to leave. So the third film will probably cut out even more.

Can anyone answer this questions of mine.

Is the Berserk movies just a remake of the series that Media Blaster dubbed or is this another arc that was animated?

The movies are supposed to try to stick to the original story more closely. I saw the first one and I do agree that this is the case, however rather than changing various story elements around to abbreviate the running Time, the method chosen instead is to cut out chunks of the story.

The jury is still out as far as which is the worse crime being committed. Personally I think I prefer the movie version better in terms of how the story is handled.

I guess you can call it a partial retelling of what you've seen in the '98 release of Berserk, but a retelling more true to the original manga series. At least for the material covered in the first movie.
