A certain Blue Öyster Cult song better be on the soundtrack, that's all I have to say.

There's always filming in Vancouver. Last time we were there just enjoying the island park, there was filming of a boat scene from on top of the bridge.

I was thinking of Veteran of the Psychic Wars.

Perhaps it's taking so long because Toho is trying to avoid making the same mistake they made in 1998.

From what I've read, the main mistake there was handing over to the guys who said they'd do it for half the budget of the Godzilla vs Griffin script.

But if Godzilla attacks Canada, who will notice?

Seeing as Godzilla 1998 had a $160 million budget, that's probably not too accurate.

I thought the main mistake was handing over to the guys who did Independance Day, making an iconic creature an iguana, taking more from King Kong, Jurassic Park and Gorgo than Gojira, Matthew Broderick, using cast members from the Simpsons, film critic looka likes who don't bite it in the end {even pointed out by the critcs in question, Siskel and Ebert, as being pretty dumb and pointless}...

Ok, there were a lot of main mistakes, weren't there?

Most of those mistakes flowing from selecting the idiots, which was the main point.

@Sailor S: I remember reading somewhere that cost was the main reason they ditched the idea. Of course, that doesn't stop the "cheaper" version from exploding in cost.

What mistake? Making a crap load of money?

Godzilla 1998 made more money for Toho than all the Millennium movies put together. They played up the "doing it for the fans thing", as that's a very Japanese thing to do, but they were more than pleased with the money they got from Sony.

By all accounts there was much displeasure at Emmerich taking the "God" out of "Godzilla". But don't take my word for it.
