are there any 6 episode tv series anime? (or less than 10)

I don't mean OAV/ONA etc, but series.

They don't have to be art, just a series shorter than 10 episodes

Erm....the only one I can think of is Amazing Nurse Nanako. I don't think there are any other TV series with only 6 episodes. The shortest is usually about 12 episodes long.

Is there a reason why you are specifically looking for short anime series?

If I recall proper, Hanbun No suki Nobora Sora, was a pretty good 6 episode series. It's about 2 hospital patients and it has drama, probably one of my favorite series. I planned to re-watch it, but haven't gotten the time to do so.

Well a 6 episode series might be FLCL, yes they were OAVs but they are probably one of the closest ways you are getting to a 6 episode series.

The reason you are gona find it hard to find a normal series at that length is that a tv series is often in 12 episode slots. So most that were not put into these 12 episode slots were released straight on DVD/Video.

This will probably be locked unless we can turn it into a discussion about good short TV anime. Anyway, here's TV anime with 6 episodes:

Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora
Shinigami no Ballad
Saint Beast: Seijuu Kourin Hen
Project Blue Chikyuu SOS
Catman Series 3
Papillon Rose: New Season
Ring ni Kakero 1: Shadow
RGB Adventure
Kero Kero Keroppi wa Su no Ue Town Kikiippatsu

I can't say about the quality so much. It's quite rare for TV anime to have less than 12 episodes.

My personal favorite of short TV-productions is REC. It's a really nice romance and fast too. Episodes are only 10 minutes in lenght, but it still manages to have more development than most other shows do in 26-50 episodes. It's 9 episodes in lenght, but has a DVD-special episode as an extra.

That's essentially what OVAs are though, short series. I could recommend tons of them if you wanted.

Project Blue Earth SOS

anime#6382

this IMO was a great anime, took all these western alien invasion cliches and made it out to be a pretty good captivating story

just realizing it was already recommended, still none the less it's a great watch

edit again, guess I should mention the episodes are about 45min each, making it like 12 episodes worth of content but broken down into 6

I was not even aware of there being 6 episode non-OAV series, guess it is interesting. Hey mind telling us your reason for want to watch such short series Aoi_Sakaraba, is that you want to go through a series quickly, or that you don't think a normal length can keep your interest the entire time.

There really isn't much that seperates a TV from an OAV except how it was originally released, or am I mistaken.

An OVA again.

TV series shorter than 12 episodes are rare because that is the length of the slots, which last one season (i.e. one quarter = three months = 12 weeks).
If running time is more important than the actual episode count then you can include series with half-length episodes like Final Approach and W~Wish which were aired back-to-back over 12 weeks. They were high on the fanservice fluff but the basic story of W~Wish was interesting enough.

Video Girl Ai was the first one to spring to mind--Although don't know if that counts as a six episode series since the first four were cute and sentimental, but Ep. 5-6 were an unholy mess... Shocked

Like Yukikaze, also an OVA...

You could try this list to find the short TV series out there, and then check the ratings and reviews on various sites to see if they're any good.

Ballad of a Shinigami, as mentioned by naninanino, is one of my favorite short TV series. It's structured in such a way that it doesn't suffer from the short length. All 6 episodes are self-contained stories, with only the titular Shinigami and her cat to tie them together. Scratch that, there is one character who's the focus of one episode and a supporting character in a later story. But anyway, all six stories have a mix of heartwarming, melancholy, uplifting, and tragic elements. Or in other words, a tearjerker that doesn't need extended plots or long buildups.

I'm trying to watch 20 series in a row again without breaking out and OAV's or Movies. So far im watching a series a day. today I didn't have time to watch a 12 ep series, but a 6 ep series would be perfect (and currently is too)

I'm on episode 3 of amazing nurse nanoko right now. It's Decent, but not art. Good enough to help me get my series entry Very Happy
