Problems with browsing ANN with Safari

I'm using a MacBook with OS X v. 10.5.8 and Safari is my web browser. Whenever I try to click on the "This Article" link in any Talkback thread, I get this message:

Too many redirects occurred trying to open “animenewsnetwork.com/shelf-life/2011-01-10”. This might occur if you open a page that is redirected to open another page which then is redirected to open the original page.


The exact same thing happens when I try to use the search function of the encyclopedia:

Too many redirects occurred trying to open “animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/search/”. This might occur if you open a page that is redirected to open another page which then is redirected to open the original page.


Same when I try to use the search bar at the top of the page:

Safari can’t open the page.
Too many redirects occurred trying to open “animenewsnetwork.com/search?q=safari&type=all”. This might occur if you open a page that is redirected to open another page which then is redirected to open the original page.


This appears to be a recent problem. I'm sure I never had this difficulty before. Anybody have any idea what may be going on?

A week later and no response. I have to question the point of having a Bugs & Technical Questions forum if nobody from ANN actually reads these threads.

Try deleting your cookies for ANN.

Oh I forgot: you can use animenewsnetwork.com/meta/clear-cookies.php and/or animenewsnetwork.com/meta/clear-cookies.php to clear your cookies but from recent experience, if you're getting redirect loops it might not work meaning you'll have to clear them manually.

I don't have a Mac so I tried with Safari on Windows and I experienced none of the problems you described. So it's either specific to Mac or to your computer in particular. If it's a cookie-related problem as Shiroi Hane speculated, well, I'm still waiting for someone to take me up on on my offer

Since it's a redirect issue, have you tried using the normal server, which doesn't redirect you?

Like, untick this:
Quote:
Redirect to subscription server
When logging in, or if for some reason a link sends you to www.animenewsnetwork.com, you will automatically be redirected to fast.animenewsnetwork.com


I don't use Safari, so perhaps there's an option somewhere making the browser block the page if it keeps redirecting you?

Thanks, egoist. As of yesterday, the problem seems to have magically fixed itself. I was able to access an article link. I'll keep all these suggestions in mind, however, if it happens again.

It's actually been behaving itself lately - I don't know if it is related to me having switched the fast server redirect back on (since you explained that it wouldn't redirect if the fast server was down).
