WHAAAAAATTTT!
Now that's ridiculous. I haven't even read the article yet (well, I'm printing it out to read) but just to hear this I'm appalled. I just finished reading the last volume released.
This is an excellent series. I hope that 'Viz' reconsiders or someone else jumps to the cause.
I'll be back after I read the article.

wow! Frederik Schodt, it's been a loooooooong time since i last heard of him. His book, "Manga! Manga!: The World of Japanese Comics" was what i picked up and sited for some english paper of mine.
WHAT?? Viz dropped Phoenix and Black Jack?? Black Jack was a part of Viz history! They can't do that! I remember reading it back in the early Animerica days (or was it some other title before Amimerica?), over a decade ago. I had a regular subscription with them and was buying Ranma on vhs. uh.. I guess I lost track of what was going on, no wonder it's getting dropped.

Sorry that I didn't get back on this.
I finally read that article awhile back. Very interesting topic. Of course it doesn't mention anything about 'Viz' dropping 'Phoenix'. I guess this was news from another source. That and the reaction to how a distributor and publisher like 'Viz' could drop something that one of the main "pioneers" in anime and manga worked on and help establish for fans.
If this new is true I hope that 'Viz' will reconsider or someone else will pick up the title and publish it.
