HELP trying to find an anime series

I remember having a colouring book of some anime series back when i was a kid and now im starting to get into mecha anime.

I want to find out what it is, the only details i know about it is that the main character has a green round ball like creature with a big mouth that sits on the characters shoulder and it helps him pilot a large mecha robot.

Any chance you people on here can me with this?
