Man Sentai is killing it this year. I'll pick up Horizon in the middle of nowhere, Ruin Explorers, Queen's Blade Rebellion, Patlaber, Special A and Another.

I'm glad Special A is getting re-released with a dub and hope for a few more titles to get the same treatment.

Also it looks like Funi is fine using the same strategy they've used the last couples of years which is to release the bulk of their new titles all at the back end of the year. This may work out better for them but I wish they'd spread things out a bit more.

Another fans should be glad that July is when it will be released.

I'm not really feeling any of the July slate from Section 23 so if Funi has a similar not interesting slate, I may be able to save some money to make the 8 hour trip down to Otakon.

I'm sure I'll eventually pick up the Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere franchise, but the titles that really have me jazzed for July are: QB: Rebellion and Another. I'm curious about Black Magic M-66 - has anyone seen this title before?

I have. It's a fun little "grindhouse" OVA. If I remember correctly, it's the only one of Masamune Shirow's works that he not only created and designed, but also directed as well.

It's less "Ghost in the Shell" and more "Dominion Tank Police" in nature. Not too bad for a 48 minute show. It had a surprisingly decent Animaze dub for it's time, too, which makes it all the more disappointing that Maiden Japan is putting this out sub-only.

So long ago that I cannot remember literally anything about.

The story is a bit thin and left me wanting more, but actually its not too bad for a quick little film from 1987. I thought it was better than the Appleseed OAV (same author) from the following year.

Wow, 20 bucks for 45 minutes versus nearly two hours for all of Ruin Explorers, and I KNOW Ruin Explorers has at least had a nice remastered DVD release in Japan. The possibility of this DVD being that master is high, right? I'd definitely like to know it's going to be good looking before buying it. Black Magic seems grossly overpriced for it not being the 90s anymore, where it would remain rare and sought after. Not to mention, sub only? I know it's on sale for $12, but I only go by SRP so everything can be equal.

It's a pretty neat little throwaway OVA, Blood. Something you'd have rented on the weekend because you're an anime fan who rents OVAs on the weekend... but nothing too outstanding. It's about these cyborgs that go haywire and start killing, and the two women chased by it. Contemporaries like Metal Skin Panic MADOX-01, the aforementioned Dominion Tank Police, and Dirty Pair OVA are far better. Better than things where Shirow's designs were used for boring or bad, like Landlock and Gundress in the 90s.

Horizon 1 was really wierd and while it had too many characters, a good number stuck out in the right sort of way, especially for what is essential a tournament series without the tournament. I'd definitely have to see the seacond season before buying any of it.

Another, oh yes, that one was amazing.

I'll pass on Patlabor TV for now as it'd be four seperate releases on 8 BDs; It's too much wasted space for my tastes. Also, it's just too much for a series that old.

Black Magic 66 was one idea which was executed well; There's nothing else to it. Not having the dub makes the release pointless unfortunately.

Queen's Blade Rebellion? Only if they give it a gag dub.

They're dubbing Special A a few years after the complete collection which was released a few years after the initial release? Huh.
