(I hope no one has posted about this yet, if someone has please point me in that direction ^__^) Anyway, I bought the newest in Tokyopop's CCS line today and found that they have the Escaflowne manga listed as an upcoming release. Does anyone know which version, shoujo or shounen or both, they are releasing? thanks in advance!
kira kira!

I think it's the shounen version, but I'm not 100% sure.

Has anyone actually got hold of this yet? 2 weeks after release date and I still can't get it from UK or US Amazon sites.

This is one of my first manga purchases, so maybe this is normal for Tokyopop stuff. Confused

Bleh. I hope not. The other manga adaptation was much better.

Is there any other series that has two manga adaptations? I find this highly unusual! Also, I thought that one version was done before the televised series. Is that correct?

I might be wrong, but I think there is one manga that the TV series was based on and the other manga is based on the TV series

Yeah, there is the shojo and shonen versions... I don't know the difference though.

IIRC, the shounen manga started before the TV series (while it was in production), but it's (very) loosely based on the TV script. Neither manga is the source for the anime.

The shounen is a more super hero-ish type story. Hitomi looks very different and pretty much just serves to power up Escaflowne for Van. I think I still have a volume of it somewhere. I was not impressed with the book, needless to say.

I asked the owner of our local comic and paperback supplier to reserve a copy for me and I believe he said that it was coming out in August. Should I have recalled the events correctly look for it then.

Its just come into stock at Amazon.com, so I'm hoping for the uk side to get it shortly. Considering Tokyopop listed it as shipping same day as Kare Kano #4 its a bit strange; that was available a couple of weeks ago.

Does she look a little bit like Ri from Sakura Wars TV?

Picture

If so, I think it's the shonen manga that they're releasing. I saw a copy of it at the bookstore, and I only had time to just flip through it really quick, but I saw a whole lot of this Ri-lookalike and I don't remember seeing the Hitomi I remember from the anime at all.
Confused
