Not sure where this belongs but since I just finished the manga I figured I'd post here. Anyway...being fresh off the ending, wow. For something that started out as being kind of average, things built up until the ending just slammed me right in the back of the forehead. Anyway I have a few questions.
How is the manga compared to the anime? At a lot of points the manga seemed to go really fast, which was both a positive and a negative for me. It was nice because the drama didn't seem too drawn out but at the same time, some events and scenes seemed to move along too quickly making the story seem a little jumpy. After reading the recent Answerman column, apparently the manga doesn't really diverge from the series. But I'm still wondering, is there anything I would be missing storywise? It seems like all of the content is in the manga so I'm guessing I'd just be missing out on some Dolem beatdown episodes. I'm watching a lot of other series right now, so I'd like to know if it's worth stuffing the series in there or if it can wait (I plan on renting the movie).
Where do all of the Eva comparisons come from? The only thing I can see that was really borrowed from Eva was the final battle scene with Ayato trying to make RahXephon move and the RahXephon regenerating it's left arm. Other than that the two series are very different. In fact, I saw a closer tie to Nadesico (with the idea of the ancient civilization of Mulian) than Eva.
How do you pronounce Ixtli (had some trouble wrapping my toungue around that one)?
I plan on checking out the series at some point, and I hope the manga (which while not half bad, I'm pretty sure isn't as good as the series) will not spoil my experience with the series and movie. In any case, this is one of the few endings I have been able to walk away from completely satisfied. Thanks for the input.
P.S. if anyone would care to just flat out discuss RahXephon I'd be glad to.

RahXephon is one of my favourites
The manga is drastically different from the anime. The events are different, the character development is different, the ending is differet, how the characters interact is different, and so on.
They're both amazing (though I think the anime is better), but very different from each other.
And in the manga, I believe the writer said that he had no intention of keeping the story the same.
As for the comparison to EVA/Nadesico:
I have not seen all of EVA, but the EVA/RahX comparison comes almost completely from the anime, and not the manga.
And Nadesico was written as a parody of all anime in general, and giant robot anime in specific (though I don't know if it came before EVA, and I'm pretty sure it came before RahX)
Ixtli is pronounced:
ik-sh-tly (long y sound, as in "happy", and the "t" is very short, almost non-existant)
