As I said in a previous post, I'm rewatching Cardcaptor Sakura, I've just finished ep. 17 (Sakura and the Scary Test of Courage) and I was wondering about "outdoor classes."
Sorry, if these seem like stupid questions, but since Japanese schools are different from American ones... 1) What are the purpose of outdoor classes? Do they teach about the land, water, animals, etc.? Are they to help identify students who might be interested in the Sciences or perhaps fishing, farming etc. 2) What is the purpose of the tests of courage, other than grown adults scaring the hell out of little kids. 3) Are these outdoor classes continued in junior high and high school. The other anime I've seen (Sailor Moon, Full Metal Panic, & Marmalade Boy) don't show these classes. 4) Does Japan have a "No Child Left Behind" program. (please! no president bashing, stay on topic. Thanks) Or are they a little more sensible and realize that not all kids want or are able to attend college. Do they identify these kids and perhaps steer them to a vocational school i.e. learning to become a fisherman, farmer, plumber, etc. I hope that these are not weird questions, I'd just like to understand more about Japanese schools. Thanks. |
