A bit of old news, but it surprised me. Every anime fan I've talked to before has not liked this series at all. People say it's way too saccharine, even for a shoujo anime. I don't know why a company would license an anime that doesn't have a large fanbase and is disliked by many.
Any opinions?

They probably did it because Sailor Moon is huge, despite its own high sugar content, and they probably figured that a lot of those same people might want to see Wedding Peach?
Makes sense to me.
A few years ago, WP was all the rage among SM fans anyway. Even ones who had not actually seen it. (But that's just how Sailor Moon fans ARE. Just like many claim that Sailorstars is their favorite season, without actually having seen it.)
I think Wedding Peach can probably find a decent following here.

I saw the first 4 episodes of Wedding Peach and Otakon 2001. Personally, I found it to be pretty amusing & would like to see more. Now I guess I'll have a chance

Yeah... I've seen the first 12 or so eps of the series... it's kinda odd, and feels like it's ripping off of SM... but then again, if a formula works, go with it.
This isn't to say that WP is bad, and it does get creative and start moving it its own direction. Personally, I'm glad to see more titles like this come over, although it makes it feel like it's getting a little chilly in hell lately.
