the Hellsing OVA section in the encyclopedia says teh next volume is due out on 4th august! is that right, or has someone got it backwards and its meant to be 8th april?

No, that seems right to me. OVAs often have a long time in between each release. Look at Top wo Nerae! 2. The average time in between each episode's release is four months.
