I am a huge fan of Outlaw Star I think it's a great series. Recently I stumbled upon a rumor about a sequel and prequel being made. Apparently, Outlaw Star 2: The Retaliation is in development from what I can gather from Morning Star's website. I cannot determine if this is a manga or anime. Nothing was mentioned about a prequel either. For some reason I can't translate this page with Altavista or anything else so could somebody tell me if these were just ideas or are they actually in development?

Just ideas. It may happen someday, but maybe not.

Last I heard there was another season of Outlaw Star in the works but it has been shelved. The company decided to do other projects first.
It is possibler it could have been picked back up in last couple of months but I hvae not seen or heard anything.
I would love to see more Outlaw Star, we need moe outlaw Star. I need to see more of Melfina, Suzuka, and Aisha Clan Clan.

Outlaw Star was so cool.
I just hope that they will make a new sequel or prequel to it.

I heard something like that too, whether it was wishful thinking or what not I can't remember but I really hope they pick up the process if it is true! Woo hoo we need more guys like Gene Starwind, wreckless to a fault and just ready to have fun. ^.^
(Of course the world would need a major dose of Tomahome to fix all the broken hearts later. lol)

a lot of the rumors were started when fans saw a "poster" for a sequel to Outlaw Star on the studio's front page...
... but the image contained the kanji for 'fake', and the studio later stated that it wasn't indicitive of anything.

It also had the date of the second Star Wars movie to anyone who noticed that when they saw it. Morning Star only keeps images on it's front page for a couple of months (but they still archive it, one needs to know the urls though), but the image for a long time was on Vince's Starwind Network (Worked as a Fanfic reviewer for him because he never looked at the fanfics himself) when it still existed. I'm sure there is a link still to the image (I hope) on OLS.Net's Announcements section.
Edit: Can't find it, sorry.
I'm quite a fan of Ito and Akahori, and I would like it some OLS fans looked into KO Beast which was released recently on DVD thanks to Right Stuf.
Also the best line that I translated using Babble fish on MS's forums was from Ito himself on the matter we are talking about:
"Because good timing is found, please wait."
The MS staff has also talked about how much the OLS mangas are being bought from US fans (160,000!).
The only thing related to OLS in some way to come out was a short new comic/manga in a fan magazine of Future-Retro Hero Story (The funny thing being Gene was dreaming about these events in the new FRHS in the later chapters of the OLS manga which were not reprinted in volume format so far).

Yah I tried going there a couple of days ago (I had previously bookmarked it) But all that is left is a little chat/mirc kind of thing and none of the info he used to have, he said he lost the server or something and as soon as he finds a new one it will be back up. (I hope that will be soon)
Then I'll ask him for that picture.
^.^ YaHHHHHH!!!!

Cool that sounds like a couple of cool series and the people on this network have never steared me wrong when it comes to new suggestions.
Thanks! ^.^

No prob, RoyalGalaxia. I can also look up my old files or bug Vince about it. But first, I'll be going to AX. So I can do it by the next weekend.
Here's the stats on all projects mentioned. While Vince thinks they happen to be dead (only one is confirmed dead), he never looks into Morning Star's Japanese forums to see what the Staff, Itoh, other companies, and Japanese fans are talking about.
Babble Fish never gives me problems translating the Morning Star site: If you are having trouble, it's more likely to be from your computer or internet connection than Alta Visa.
Outlaw Star 2 - Sword of Wind
Status: Dead
This was confirmed by Itoh.
Outlaw Star 2 - Retaliation
Status: Unknown
Talked about alot by the MS staff and Itoh. They say if they are lucky and have enough time it can be done. Retaliation was supposed to be a new manga series.
Outlaw Star Manga #5
Status: Unknown
The image cover had Suzuka on it. It basically was showing what #5 would look like if it was made. However, I'm hoping that #4 would come out collecting the later chapters first than #5.
Outlaw Star Movie
Status: ???
So the image was a joke about an animated feature from Morning Star, but with the whole Fox movie deal with Shueisha going on: The possibly of a live action movie does exist depending on how well the DBZ movie goes. If it's a success: Fox will be going through Shueisha's library of published manga and Outlaw Star is in it.
Well, I have to go. Going to have alot of fun. See ya guys later.

Personally I would love to see a sequel to Outlaw Star, but when you really think about it, all of the characters look completely different. Will most likely have different character voices, and all in all, sometimes ruin what you remember the original to be.
But I also heard that the anime title Angel Links, is set in the same stages as Outlaw Star's storyline was in.

It would be nice to have a movie or something for Outlaw Star just because of how it ended - I belive that the ending left some to be desired, too meny unanswered questions about how the characters ended up.
As for Angel Links, I have heard that while it is set in the Outlaw Star universe (which - btw - dose seem like a good universe to set other stories in) it has no real connection to the orginal Outlaw Star.
