I agree Scrapped Princess, is a good anime. But I was thinking maybe Vandread....Its mostly a mecha type of anime, but with some drama and comedy elements. Also on that note I would recommend Full Metal Panic. Thats all I can think of at this time. I hope they suit your liking...

I don't know if Berserk would fall under sci-fi exactly.

I am going along the scifi route here, and not so much on the fantasy. From my experience its either Scifi, or its fantasy with a scifi skin. In simple laymans terms science fiction is supposed to be grounded in some form of science. In other words it must make use of some known phenomena, or theory. While it can be an extrapolation of where this might go. Real science fiction has some basis in fact. Fantasy on the other hand needs no such grounding anything is possible, and any applied laws are purely for aesthetic reasons. I always thought it was funny how people would argue which was the best scifi series starwars or startrek. The joke was while startrek is definately scifi. Starwars is a fantasy with a scifi skin laid overtop.

Now if your looking for a very strong science fiction series to get into. My suggestions would be the following.

Crest of the stars/banner of the stars/banner of the stars II. I would say its a cross between the foundation series, and STTNG. You get a good technical universe. The main characters are caught up in a interstellar war between two factions of humanity. Each with differing outlooks on life. There is alot of philosophical discussions, and you get a slow methodically developed story line. Anyway all three series are based in the same universe, and each is thirteen episodes long.

Cowboy Bebop. Yes it has a very action oriented storyline. You do have alot of strong science fiction involved. There is nothing unsound about the science involved. This has a softer touch when it comes to being technical. You got spaceships, future tech, and enough real physics to make it a joy. Though the people on mars should have a hell of a time running.

Ghost in the shell. Take your pick one of the movies, or the stand alone complex. This is science fiction done by the numbers, and does what good science fiction is supposed to do. Take science go the extra step, and ask questions about the human condition. The premise is pretty simple step into a future where technology, and humans are directly linked together through cybernetics. Where questions about what it is to be human, or to have a soul are common place.

Anyway those are some good places to look for decent science fiction. Now asfor your fantasy desire I think you need to be more specific as to what kind of fantasy you are looking for. That is a gigantic area. After all fantasy catches just about anything that will not fit nicely somewhere else, and a comedy or a drama can also be a fantasy. All that is needed is some fantasy element to lock it in. So if you narrow down what you like in a fantasy that would help alot.

No. You tell US what you like FIRST. "Good Scifi Anime And Fantasy" are just too broad.

Next time give examples of what you like and a few details about WHY you like those said series.
