There have been many awesome scenes in Japanese animation over the past several decades, but there are always scenes that stand out and apart from the others as the scenes that will be remembered for years to come. This thread is where we can discuss what scenes we think are the greatest.
I believe that the greatest, most famous scene in any anime is when Goku first transformed into a super saiyan in his battle against Freeza in Dragon Ball Z. When I first saw that scene so many years ago, I thought that it was so awesome, and I still think so today. Up until that point in the series, the super saiyan was the stuff of legends and myths, a power that was thought to be unattainable, until that day when Goku attained that power. Even after that scene, the whole concept of super saiyans was cool and awe-inspiring, but it eventually began to lose its prestige as more and more saiyans obtained this power. However, many other anime series have characters attaining power in methods similar to that of a super saiyan, such as spoiler[bankai] in Bleach, spoiler[the demon fox sealed inside Naruto] in Naruto, and the spoiler[hyper-mode] in Mobile Fighter G-Gundam. So, what does everyone else have to say on this topic? |

I find this thread due to its nature and the example that you've given to be somewhat (again somewhat) similar to the thread that I had started about a month ago or more.

I agree in your statement how the best scene was where Goku turned Super Saiyan. But then again theres that time where Gohan turnes Super Saiyan 2 and it was pretty cool. Though the Japanese part of where Gohan goes SSJ2 looks better than the FUNimation Dub.

There were a few that come to mind:
There was the ending of Grave of the Fireflies. I dont usually even get sad when there are sad parts in movies and such, but this part made tears stream from my face... :'( The end episode of Cowboy Bebop was pretty moving, especially with the awesome music they had. The last few episodes of Evangelion...WOW!!!, is all i can say. It made me stop and think about things a lot. Even though I knew what was happening, I still couldnt help but question everything around me. Great Teacher Onizuka had a very suprising ending...the whole series was full of great scenes. |

Definitely not the "most famous" or the "greatest", but the opening scene in Kanon is definitely one I will remember. Not exactly moving or touching, but from the very start of the scene when Nayuki is just staring down at Yuuichi, to the part where Yuuichi walks off, and then turns around and says, "Let's go, Nayuki.", I sat there completely in awe.

The scene in Saikano where Shuji First sees Chise in her weapon form is quite striking both in the anime and the manga. Oh and of course the Aftermath of the Instrumentality Project panorama from EoE.
Also, a scene in Rahxephon, spoiler[when Ayato unknowingly kills Asahina while she is syncronized with a dolem. Her last words spreding through the town's illumination system until Ayato finally realized what is happening are one of the best scene I have ever seen animated or otherwise.] |

I would agree with Goku going Super Saiyan but another good DBZ famed scene has got to be when Gohan fires the 1-Handed Kamehameha & you see Goku's spirit behind him, that is classic.
