Why are female seiyuu always supah cute in real life? Are uggos not allowed to do voice work???

Seiyuu in Japan are basically treated as idols. They essentially need to look good.

I guess it's kind of the same for singers. Theoretically, there should be no connection between vocal talent and looks, but it just so happens that most popular singers - especially the females - tend to be easy on the eyes.
