I just finished watching 4th Stage of Initial D, and I got confused a little bit 'cause on the early episodes of ID the characters had a Japanese name then during 3rd or 4th Stage they somehow got some Chinese name. Did they change the company somehow that makes ID or something??

If you were watching fansubs, then that's probably why it happened. Two different fansub groups releasing two different versions (Japanese and Chinese) and you happened to download a mix of the two. If you were watching the licensed DVD's, then I don't know what happened, because I've only seen the First Stage.

Or perhaps a bootleg, considering that the 4th stage isn't even licensed, I don't think. I have heard rumors of this happening in Initial D bootlegs.

I don't know if it's bootleg or not, my friend bought the last few episodes on ebay. I bought mine at www.amazon.com and the characters are in Japanese name.

Yeah, the Fourth Stage isn't even licensed yet. Just check the Encyclopedia. I'm now pretty much 100% sure that you have a bootleg on your hands. Perhaps you could post a link to which exact product you bought on Amazon?

You've bought a bootleg. There's currently no official DVD with english subtitle at the moment.
