Robotech has greater nostalgia value in the west than anything it was based on. That, and it has English audio.

No idea. Robotech is before my time.
I'm willing to bet that more people would recognise the name "Robotech" than would recognise "Mospeada" all the same.
This is also marketed to whoever it is that has been buying all those various other dubbed Robotech discs that have been put out here over the years.
