Hello all, first post Smile
Great site, my wife and I enjoy anime and she reads a ton of manga. However we were looking at purchasing a number of manga's from [a site with bootlegged anime] However, when we goto the checkout their is no security lock or HTTPS to show that it is a secure connection. I have emailed them 3 times concerning this with no response. I have read their help section and it states they use 128bit encryption but I do not see it. I use IE 7 and Firefox and no encryption shows on either browser. I do log in, place what I want in basket goto checkout. Input shipping info and then the next screen is input creditcard. I stop here because no encryption.

Thanks for any information or help. Smile

[EDIT: Had to remove the site becaus they sell bootlegged anime and music CDs. -TK]

Hate to tell you this, but that site is full of bootlegs and other illegally pirated goods. A lot of their "import" stuff isn't even licensed yet. The fact that they're now on DVD with English subs and at such a low price is a dead giveaway that they're not legit.

I think you should read the first post in this thread to learn about bootlegs and such.

I can recommend some tips and sites for saving on legit, domestic releases if you'd like. But yeah, that site of yours is not legit, and the fact that they don't have any kind of encryption for checkout doesn't help matters.

EDIT: Whoops. Just reailzed you're more of a manga fan. Can't disagree about those prices, but a lot of their import DVDs and CDs are definitiely bootlegged, while they're domestic DVDs are barely at retail.

animanation which I saw from that thread was legit.

I do most of my shopping online. I don't have much manga, but I most frequently use Just Manga and The Right Stuf International.

I rely on JM primarily for Viz titles, as they are slightly lower-priced than TRSI. However, TRSI likes to run a lot of promotional sales where a lot of the time you can save at least 33% off the retail for manga and up to 40% off of anime. They also have a thing called the "Got Anime" club where you're treated like a special member and get an additional 10% on top of those discounts.

I highly recommend you check through their Bargain Bin as well.
