While I am excited for this movie and am quite impressed by the staff behind it, I am somewhat sad that there seems to be a slight spirit of pettyness motivating the project... (timing, bigger Godzilla, possible hidden meaning in the name). Still, I will certainly still see the movie and hope it is a success. Hope they make some new SH Monsterarts figures for it too!

Ishihara has been acting in various eikaiwa commercials in Japan so I guess that should mean she is going to speak English in the movie eh? Wondering how this movie will develop over its production.

I think it might be best that TOHO got a slight kick in the jaw from how financially successful their property was in the 2014 American reboot in order to do something "bigger" rather than your run-of-the-mill stuff that we've seen before. I'm hoping for this movie to really be an experience that could rival (and surpass) the 90's Gamera trilogy; of which I still consider to be Japan's more exciting monster movie attempts. They have all the pieces with Anno and Higuchi on board to create something edgy and exciting, I just hope that this is the case. While the CG effects is something I don't expect for them to beat against the 2014 movie, they can make up for it in terms of creative ideas and storytelling, as well as the sense of dread that seems to be the route they are taking this.

Perhaps this is some sort of obscure joke. But why would Steve Martin be in this movie. Didn't see any mention of him or know of any relation.

Not THAT Steve Martin.

Steve Martin is an American reporter character, played by Raymond Burr, who was inserted into the original 1954 Godzilla movie for its Western release. Similarly, Burr reprised the role for the Western edit of Godzilla 1985.
