Sounds interesting. I'd be up for seeing a few translations of classic texts on art/storytelling from the Japanese market (I'm guessing there must be some?) Anything manga centric over here is either pretty but superficial, or utter tripe. There are some great books for and by Western comic writers/artists, but there are fundamental differences, even in the priority of visual vs writing. People like Paul Gravett have written about this from a perspective of comic evolution and concept etc, but there's little more. Even the use of perspective differs.

The How to Draw Manga series english editions published by Graphic-sha have some useful volumes, if you can find them, including Putting Things in Perspective.
