I assume this will have a different cast from the old Tokyo Pop dub

I imagine they'll try to bring back people from Funimation's dub. No DJ Milky here! |

Knowing Sentai, they'll probably just release it sub-only and call it a day. |

Agreed for once. D has declined in sales and physical release activity involving the anime, which makes me assume funi didn't bother taking the movies in 2014 an onward. Plus any passionate fans would probably have an argument on which dubbing studio to do the movies. So I say best shove it in a sub disc to blow out the flames, or maybe pull a Fate/Kaleid since its a remake and/or non continuation. Hell, I can see some funi actresses working in it, but I'll suspect the usual route. Show me the sub! |

Is this the Initial D adaptation that took away the Eurobeat? How can one possibly watch Initial D without Eurobeat? It's simply unfathomable.

If there's any reason to think that these movies might get dubbed, it's because they also got licensed in the UK a few months ago by MVM.
As for FUNimation, their redub was okay but the way they originally released Stages 1-4 was pretty dumb because they started with the newer stuff (stages 3 & 4) before the actual redub (stages 1 & 2 w/Extra Stage) and didn't even bother to license the OVAs that Tokyopop didn't have (Battle Stages 1 & 2 and Extra Stage 2) plus there was controversy over Third & Fourth Stage's aspect ratio because people blamed FUNi for the DVDs being letterboxed (which was also a problem with the Japanese DVDs and was never fixed until the 2014 Blu-ray box sets) so it wouldn't surprise me if that's what led to them failing here. Is that a good indicator though? MVM gets a lot of sub-only titles too... Regardless of that, even with the good animation the lack of Eurobeat brings this down for me. It's just not right hearing that unique soundtrack replaced with standard J-rock and such. |
