Milk, mold, vinegar, and rust... I hope those aren't based off of scents offered by the company.

I was thinking those characters were supposed to be smells that deodorant is supposed to mask/fight. Now I'm confused, I don't know how steam has a bad odor, or any odor at all.

I think Mushi isn't "steam" as much as it's humidity (mushi-atsui).
