I mean, One Piece takes one week breaks all the time. Why is this news? Because the author is recovering?

We try to cover the "unexpected" breaks in Shonen Jump series. One Piece's breaks once a month or so are regular, and are not unexpected (eg: due to the author's health or other unexpected factors), so we don't cover them.
