Even putting aside weather characters gambling is appropriate for children's TV or not, saying a character losing an excessive amount of money might incite a passion for gambling is a really weird take.

No one outside of Japan is talking about a Japan-only children's series whose censorship begins and ends at one regional broadcaster pulling an episode that's available elsewhere? Not exactly a surprise.
