It was a nice little surprise, especially since where I live there was no legal way of watching it until now.

If anything needed a redo/remaster it was the anime.
There was just no time to actually develop the story in such a truncated fashion.

Oh god, there's so much link in this news. This is what makes ANN can be so annoying sometimes -- so much links, sometimes the right link is at the bottom, but otherwise you need to find it through all the fluff added to pad out the article.
