I'm not a game player, so the anime is my only handle on the storyline. The irony of Rhodes Island being both a medical unit and a military unit allied with persecutors of the infected has been something that's bothered me, and I was glad to see the topic raised in this set of episodes.
Production values are superb. The story is confusing, but the characters and visuals are sufficient to keep me patient for the gradual reveal. As the reviewer points out, the world is dense and layered, so I feel like things are moving forward.
I'm enjoying the series very much, and am impatient for more
