Yeah, I'm very sorry for the webtoon artists that put a lot of hours into making their work available and making it public.
Yeah, as someone who strongly believe in creator ownership in comics/graphic novel, this is a major stinker when I read this part from the article. |

Yeah, either declare bankruptcy and work it out in court (assuming the system in Korea is similar to the US), or do right by your authors as much as possible. |

I think it's very likely the artists would probably likely sue if they have enough and strong evidence for that. I wish them luck. |

The problem is that when they go to serve the papers there may be nothing there. This could give new meaning to "fly-by-night company". In this day and age, it takes so very little to constitute a company. Management could be operating out of laptop. Employees can be anywhere with a good internet connection. The office could be a simple accommodation address. For webtoons about the only thing that needs to have a physical location is the rented server space that supports the site.
Even if the owner is acting in good faith, when the dust settles there may be nothing left. |
