Call of Night is a fantastic show, but these advertisements that take the form of news coverage are the death of journalism. How can we trust this website when it's accolades can be purchased?

Because it's clearly labeled as an ad?

My only beef with the ad was the insinuation that Anko was debuting only this season, when she and her cigarette smoke had several memorable and artistic scenes in the first season.

This may not be my favorite anime of all times, but this is everything an anime should be. Great characters. Beautiful color palate. Backgrounds to die for. Timing. Pacing. Shocking reveals. DEEP dives into character motivation and history. A brilliant OP, flawlessly matched to superb theme music. The wildest of action mixed with the deepest of introspection. Constant revelations of backstory. A magnificent wreck of a villain (or is she?).

It's a masterpiece, to this old, jaded 63-year anime fan who's been sick of the same old same old cookie cutter crap, bad art, lousy animation, and tiresome mediocrity. I saw my first anime in 1962 at 11, and a LOT has passed by, In my not at all humble opinion, this is one of the best ever. Period.

I didn't really care much for season 1, it felt so-so and kinda slow, so I wasn't interested in Season 2.

But what do the non-ad people think? Is season 2 significantly different or significantly better? Like maybe S1 was just a slow start and things are really happening here?

I wouldn't say the anime overall is much different. However the pacing is faster, a lot more goes on and has stronger emotional themes than season 1.
It's a definite step up in my opinion.
